Veteran and Ancient Strike 3
I returned. I tried again. This time shining a torch from all directions to remove shadow. These are mostly they, with some from strike two that were still better. I’m more pleased with these but irritatingly don’t have fifteen yet. Two to find… Needs another visit I think but with a daylight recce to take coordinates.
Veteran and Ancient Strike 2
I went back to Sheep’s Green / Coe Fen in better conditions to capture the veteran and ancient trees. I am really drawn to them, though am not sure why. They are disfigured and neglected, but also resilient and, now, cared for. They are hard to capture, and next to impossible to celebrate without their surroundings getting in the way.
I think I’ll have to go back since for many of these I was using two fixed lights, but that yields frustrating anomalies due to shadows. I’ll return with a faster, sharper lens, and a mobile light to paint the trees and avoid shadow.
If there’s ever reason for a 15-image panel of these, these will be it:

When I showed an AI (Claude) Martin Parratt’s FRPS panel it wouldn’t believe it was real! I mean, it is, but whenever I try to do it I do find myself agreeing….!

I wasn’t sure this would have the effect that I intended, but it did. Light-painted with a powerful torch from all angles at night, inverted, and tidied up. Will do more.
